Lavinia Empowers by Turning her Speeches into Musical Inspiration

In this deeply moving and spiritually grounded message, Dr. Lavinia B. Masters explores the painful yet redemptive journey of learning to see oneself beyond the wounds of trauma. Speaking to survivors of sexual and domestic violence—and to anyone who has ever questioned their worth—Dr. Masters poses a heartfelt question: “Why do we not see ourselves for who we truly are?”

Through the rhythm of faith and reflection, she reveals how trauma can distort our vision, causing us to confuse protection with identity and pain with purpose. Many survivors, she explains, build emotional walls and wear masks of strength, not realizing those masks hide the beauty and truth of who they are. Dr. Masters compassionately acknowledges that survivors often internalize guilt and shame—believing that their trauma was somehow their fault, tied to their appearance, their skin color, or their very existence. But she counters these lies with biblical truth, declaring that it was never their fault and that they remain fearfully and wonderfully made in God’s image (Psalm 139:14).

Blending personal insight with scriptural affirmation, she walks listeners through a spiritual restoration process: removing the masks, healing the vision, and reclaiming identity through God’s eyes rather than the world’s.
